2 Years, 100+ Conversations, and the Unexpected Truths I’ve Learned About Wealth
A behind-the-scenes look at the mindset breakthroughs that come from talking about money
Two years ago, I hit “record” on a podcast mic with a straightforward goal: to start having open, honest conversations about money, career, and what it really takes to build the life you want.
I wasn’t sure where it would go. I just knew the conversations I wanted to have weren’t happening in most boardrooms, backchannels, or even with advisors. So I started creating the space myself.
What followed surprised me. It transformed how I think about money. It gave me purpose. And it helped me see patterns that every new millionaire should know.
Here’s what I’ve learned 👇
1. Passion Can Become Purpose
What starts as a passion project can evolve into your purpose—if you keep showing up.
When I started the podcast, I didn’t have a business model, audience strategy, or financial goal. I just had a desire to talk about money with more honesty and clarity. But over time, this turned into something bigger—a mission to help high-earning professionals understand wealth in a completely different way.
Which brings me to the next big lesson...
2. The Obstacle Is the Way
What feels uncomfortable at first may be exactly where you grow the most.
Talking about money used to make me squirm. I worried about saying the wrong thing, sounding inexperienced, or opening up too much. But repetition builds resilience. And the very thing I avoided became my strength. The lesson? Lean into what makes you uncomfortable. It often holds the key to your next evolution.
And it turns out, we already have more skills than we realize...
3. Your Tech Skills Make You a Better Wealth Manager
The same systems-thinking that makes you great in tech can make you great with money.
In tech, we build, optimize, and scale systems. We test, iterate, and document everything. That mindset transfers perfectly to personal finance. Most people don’t realize that managing wealth is just managing a different kind of system—your capital. If you know how to run a product team, you already have what it takes to run your portfolio.
But most of us were never taught how—and that’s part of the problem...
4. Financial Confusion Is Normal — Not a Flaw
Being overwhelmed by money doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means the system is broken.
Many of the people I speak with are brilliant in their careers, but feel totally unprepared to manage their wealth. It’s not because they’re lazy or careless. It’s because the education never existed. School didn’t teach it. Advisors overcomplicate it. Most of what we learn is through painful trial and error. The good news? There’s an easier and better way, we just need to talk and get into conversations about it.
Still, even with a desire to take control, many remain stuck...
5. Many Know They Should Be the CEO of Their Portfolio — But Still Freeze
Clarity without action leads to paralysis — and action without clarity leads to chaos.
People often say, “I know I should be managing this better.” They’ve made the money. They’ve read the blogs. But they’re still stuck. Why? Because there’s no operating system guiding their decisions. The same way a business runs with a plan, cadence, and strategy—your wealth needs the same. That’s where WealthOps steps in. Once you have a system in place, it is easy to find the rhythm of business to scale and grow it.
And if there’s one force that can break you out of inertia, it’s this...
6. Wealth Is a Team Sport
You can go faster alone, but you go further with the right people.
Trying to manage your wealth in isolation is like trying to scale a company with no team. We need others to challenge us, support us, and offer perspective. Over the last two years, I’ve seen how much clarity comes from community. Being around others who “get it” helps you move faster, smarter, and with more confidence.
Which leads to the final insight—one that changes everything about how you build freedom...
7. Work Smarter, Not Harder
Money doesn’t get tired—and it can work 24/7 when managed correctly.
The real flex isn’t working more hours—it’s making your money do the work. The sooner you build systems around your capital, the sooner you unlock time freedom. Every dollar should have a job. Every investment should serve a purpose. Once you realize your wealth can scale in a way your energy can’t, everything changes.
